In an effort to limit exposure and practice social distancing, we have taken the following steps:

Veterinary Visit- Upon arriving at the clinic, please remain in your car, call the clinic to let us know that you have arrived, and give the best number to reach you. A member of our team will call you to gather a history on your pet. After the history has been taken via phone, a member of our team will be out to get your pet, and escort only them into the building. (Please stay in your vehicle and parked on our property while your pet is in the practice.) Your pet will be examined by one of our doctors, they will call you to inform you of their exam findings, and an estimate for a treatment plan (if requested). Once the exam is completed, a receptionist will call you for payment. The entire visit is completed while you are in your vehicle limiting the amount of exposure to other clients and staff. All cats MUST be in a carrier and dogs on a leash. If your pet does not do well away from you, please contact our office for other options.

Picking up Food/Medication/Cremains- Please follow the same protocol for a Veterinary Visit. Give us a call, we will collect payment via phone, and we will have a staff member bring the item/s to your vehicle. Checking in for Boarding/Grooming/Surgery- Please follow the same protocol for a Veterinary Visit. Give us a call, we will have a staff member bring you a consent form to complete (if not already submitted), and then a staff member will come to your vehicle to retrieve your pet/s. **We will not accept any personal items due to the potential spread of the virus**

Technician Treatments- We ask that you ONLY bring your pet in for a nail trim, anal gland expression, or laser treatment if truly necessary. If you would like to bring your pet in for one of these services, we do ask that you call ahead to schedule a time. When you arrive, please follow the same protocol for a Veterinary Visit.
House Calls- We will not be performing any house calls during the outbreak.

Exceptions to the changes:
Emergency Visit- Please do NOT wait in your car and come directly into the hospital with your pet to receive medical attention.

If you have flu like symptoms or have known exposure to COVID-19, please stay at home. If your pet is a current patient (has been examined in the past year), please contact our office for other options.
Our staff is washing their hands before/after handling any patient. Doorknobs, handles, countertops, and other commonly touched surfaces are being wiped down multiple times throughout the day. We have asked any of our staff if they become ill or have known exposure to utilize their PTO and stay home.

Again, this is uncharted territory for all of us, so please be patient as we implement these changes. Our staff, client’s, and patient’s health are of utmost priority. We are working hard to provide the best care for your pet, while practicing social distancing that is being advised and implemented across the country.

This process will remain in place for the next few weeks. As we see how the outbreak unfolds, changes will be made, and we will be in touch via our SMAC Vet app, email, Facebook, and Instagram.
